Pastor Roderick Williams
Founder, ConVICTed 2 Change
A strong advocate for those who are marginalized, Roderick Williams is the Executive Director of the nonprofit, As One Chicago, Inc., and founder of ConVICTed 2 Change®, a program whose mission is to empower and train men in small support groups through facilitated discussion, the application of Biblical principles and accountability that equip them to overcome barriers and obstacles to their growth. Roderick’s greatest passion is assisting and empowering adult males and young men to overcome the systemic challenges that often cause significant trauma in their lives, such as gang involvement, violence, poverty and incarceration. An ordained minister of the gospel, he has been involved in pastoring youth, Assistance Pastor in multi denominational congregations, and a church planter.
His career has spanned both the for profit and nonprofit sectors. After working as an Electronics Engineer at such companies as IBM, Techtronic’s, and General Dynamics, he left the private sector to become Recreational Manager at The Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries, a faith-based organization providing food, shelter and services to intervene where homelessness and substance addiction occur. The Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries is one of the largest providers in the fight against homelessness and substance abuse in the country. While there, he developed a subcontracting company that generated over $250,000 in revenue. This job led to him to serve at other organizations as a Substance Abuse Counselor, Clinical Therapist and Program Manager.
From 1998 to 2011, Roderick served in various capacities at Prison Fellowship Ministries (“PF”), a ministry whose mission is to restore America’s criminal justice system and those it affects. PF helps men and women replace the cycle of brokenness that landed them in prison. PF advocates for justice reform and activates grassroot networks to do the same. Additionally, PF cares for prisoners’ families and helps strengthen the bond between children and their parents who are behind bars.
As an Executive Director with Prison Fellowship Ministries with responsibility for the states of Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin, his responsibilities included chairing regional volunteer committees in three states that provided advice and management for their designated region for assessing needs, developing long term and short-term plans, budgets, fundraising, donor relations, and special events. Additionally, he facilitated the yearly distribution of 34,000 Angel Tree gifts to children with a parent incarcerated, which was hosted by 739 churches and local agencies in a tri-state region over a 6-year period. Because of his fundraising initiatives and donor relationships, Roderick increased funds raised from $400,000 to over $3.5 million.
Roderick is an accomplished Executive with an ability to deliver mission critical results. He is a passionate communicator with several years of experience in leading thought-provoking workshops and seminars involving train-the-trainer, facilitation, mentoring, team building and strategic planning. He is a persuasive leader recognized for his keen ability to energize and inspire individuals in both the non-for profit and community development arenas, to work toward achieving a common goal and he excels in creating consensus among divergent groups.
Roderick served on active duty in the United States Navy. His education and certifications include a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering from Washington Technical University, Bachelor of Arts from Siena Heights University, Certified as a Master Trainer from Developmental Dimensions Incorporated, and Certified Executive Coach from Cornell University.
He’s married to Angela F. Williams, an ordained minister and nonprofit executive. They have three children and six grandchildren.
